"Where is the flashlight?"
"Crap, we have D, AA, and 9-Volt's. But no AAA batteries!"
"Lighter? Candles?"
"@#$%, How long has that couch been there? I think my toe is broken!"
"There is water coming in all the windows!"
*Crashing Noise*
*Arf, Arf...Whiiiiiiiine*
This is a typical day in the life of an Okinawa Typhoon. Good thing my Momma taught be to be prepared, cuz this time we had the lighter, batteries, towels, and candles ready to go.
....So only the second half of the conversation occurred.
Lucky for my wonderful husband, I got a great deal on Monopoly (the original *somehow* got left in storage... hmmmm).
I am fairly certain that the only person who loves this game as much as me is... well, I haven't found anyone dying to join me for a rousing round of mortgages and money laundering.
The good thing about typhoons is that fancy weatherman equipment can tell us they are coming way ahead of time. This gives us the opportunity to prepare our houses.
I think our kayak in the hallway really adds to the ambiance of the place...
Upside down patio table.. very modern!
During the storm, fun things happen, too!
"What is that sound? Rushing water?"
But the real questions is... How do we pass the time for 3 days of being locked down?
Use the PhotoBooth App to take funny pictures...
Neanderthal Chesty!
Too much plastic surgery Chesty!
*Some* family members choose to pass the time napping!

And when I am really lucky we play Monopoly! :)
And what happens after we have been cooped up for 72 hours? As soon as the base issued that it was okay to go outside....
![]() |
We ran outside and jumped in mud puddles, slid down hills, and played in the rain!
![]() |
Then we were off to assess the damages... An uprooted tree was stuck between our cars!
![]() |
One of our shortcut roads looked like backwoods Kentucky...
And we found a truck blown over by the wind!
